Important information: registration fees, language, and visa requirements
The IUFRO Division 8 Conference Coyhaique 2026 will include a registration fee.

REGISTRATION FEES WILL NOT BE REFUNDED.
The conference organizers engage with local service providers to secure logistics for each registered participant (e.g., shuttle transportation, participant kits, field trip, and other services). These arrangements require advance headcounts and financial commitments.
Conference fees have been adjusted according to the participant category (general or student) and payment type (regular or early), distinguishing between the Global North and Global South.
Registration fees (in US dollars USD or Chilean pesos CLP)
CLP values are rounded estimates based on an exchange rate of 1 USD ~1,000 CLP and may vary slightly depending on the official rate at the time of payment. January 31st, 2026 - Early registration deadline.

The registration fee includes VAT, but excludes any additional charges applied by banks or payment providers
Registration includes:

Participants who have paid the registration fee are entitled to the following benefits during the official conference dates:

•Full access to congress venues, including scientific sessions and open exhibitions (institutional stands, academic publishers, local products, and outreach initiatives).

•Presenting a symposium and/or abstract (if approved by the Scientific Committee), in the official conference program and proceedings.

•Conference materials (e.g., participant kit).
•Participation in coffee breaks (morning and afternoon).
•Daily lunch during the event.
•Participation in a field trip.

•Participation in pre-conference workshops or courses
Residents of the Aysén Region who register are exempt from the conference fee for activities held within the official venue during the main conference dates (March 24-27, 2026). This exemption grants full access exclusively to the scientific sessions and open exhibitions (institutional stands, academic publishers, local products, and outreach initiatives), as well as the opportunity to present a symposium and/or abstract. It does not include meals, conference materials, field trips, or other activities that require separate payment due to their logistical or operational costs.
Language
The official language of the conference is English to facilitate participation and interaction among researchers from different countries. Abstracts and symposia in Spanish will be accepted only in justified cases, such as the participation of local students, researchers, policymakers, or regional stakeholders. All presentations (slides) must be prepared in English.
Please note: Spanish is the official language of Chile. While the scientific content of the conference will be in English, most local service providers (e.g., transportation, hospitality, tourism) communicate primarily in Spanish. We recommend that participants take this into account for everyday interactions during their stay.
Visa requirements
Chile requires entry visas for citizens of certain countries. We strongly recommend that participants check visa requirements with Chilean consulates prior to registration.
