Conference title: Forests as hubs of biodiversity and ecosystem services in the anthropocene
Date and location: March 24-27, 2026; Coyhaique, Chile
Key messages for participants
Participants are kindly asked to plan their travel in advance and to review the recommendations of SERNATUR, as well as the requirements of SAG, CONAF, and SBAP, particularly in the case of international travel.
Thanks to the collaboration of our partner institutions and organizations, the conference offers four official one-day field trips, each with a maximum capacity of 25 participants allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Participation in the official field trips is included as part of the paid conference registration.
The field trips will take place on March 26, 2026, departing at 08:30 from the city center of Coyhaique and returning at approximately 17:00. The field trips will be led by local professionals, scientists, and authorities from the Aysén Region and will be conducted in both Spanish and English, with translation support available. They will present real-world examples of forest ecosystems with and without management across different areas of the region. Some field trips include multiple scheduled stops within the same itinerary.
All field trips include transportation, authorized access to the sites visited, and a standard packed lunch. Participants are expected to be properly equipped for field activities, considering the climatic conditions of Patagonia during the conference period. Weather conditions in Patagonia can be unpredictable; therefore, participants are advised to bring appropriate clothing for wind and rain.
The conference organization gratefully acknowledges the collaboration of INFOR, CONAF, and Fundación Reforestemos, as well as the professionals who will directly contribute to the development of these field trips.
Please review each of the following field trip options and, in the registration form: www.iufro2026coyhaique.com/registration , select the one you are interested in attending.
